Cassidy Fearer, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, is the Artist and Owner of Water Tupelo Beadwork based in Bluffton, SC.

Cassidy specializes in authentic beaded earrings & cuff bracelets that are exclusively handmade by the artist herself in all details of the beadwork process. From designing to making, Cassidy has been able to reflect her heritage through her beadwork, bead by bead. She displays traditional and contemporary Cherokee elements in her pieces with the use of glass seed beads, sterling silver, porcupine quills, deer hide, and beautiful bright colors.

As most native artists are taught from elders in their family, Cassidy is a self taught artist. She never had the ability to be surrounded by her Cherokee relatives, community or culture as her Cherokee Mother was adopted into a non-native family.

For Cassidy, the art of beadwork has brought her not only a passion, but a way to deeply connect to her heritage. She is so grateful to practice this honored Cherokee tradition and to be able to share it with everyone.

The Statement Cuff

'Eternal Light'

This beaded statement cuff bracelet is a representation of The Trail of Tears - The forced removal of the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole -
driven by the Indian Removal Act of 1830 & the Cherokee Removal of 1838-1839.

'Eternal Light' depicts a frigid winter scene of a horse and rider on the trail of tears, trudging through deep snow, unsure of what the future may hold. With deep sorrow and uncertainty, the brilliant and joyful colors of the early morning gives the rider a sense of hope, knowing that even through immense suffering and loss, Creator will always be our Eternal Light.

The Statement Cuffs

An expression of freedom and resilience. These beaded cuff bracelets have been beaded with the traditional two-needle applique technique.  Using this method creates a story that starts with native roots, but has the ability to connect and resonate with anyone who wears it.
